About Peoria Unified School District
Peoria Unified entered 2026–27 with a major exception to its long-standing K–8 elementary pattern. Kachina and Pioneer closed, and their K–6 attendance areas moved to Canyon and Foothills. Seventh- and eighth-graders from those four communities now attend Cactus, which began a grades 7–12 model. Oakwood remains K–8, with Cactus available there through open enrollment.
Peoria eCampus still publishes synchronous K–8 and asynchronous high-school models. The governing board tabled proposed eCampus grade changes in March 2026, yet a district school-changes page continues to state that K–8 service would close. The physical closures and Cactus reconfiguration are implemented; current K–8 online eligibility is documented inconsistently across official pages.
